A Ghanaian-British entrepreneur, Danny Manu has recently added to the latest trend in the communication world by inventing earbuds that translates over 40 languages without using the internet.
The product, called Click, is said to be “the world’s first truly wireless earphones” with live voice translation supporting 40 languages.
In contrast to comparable inventions, “click” does not necessitate an internet connection. Instead, the wireless earbuds work by pairing to a smartphone. The earbuds will then detect the language being spoken and will provide a spoken translation within a sentence or two.
Hinancing his Company
Manu tells Keepthefaith that the journey has been long and stressful and that his success is due to his hard work and determination.
Danny Manu, like many Black startups in the UK, faced the challenge of raising capital or establishing a venture for his company.
“Like all the other ethnic minority-run businesses within the UK, I had a hard time getting the funding and financial support from banks and government-funded programs that I needed,” he said.

As a result of the aforementioned, Manu was forced to seek alternative funding for his startup. He used his own money, personal savings, and funds raised through crowdfunding sites. According to Keepthefaith, he raised over $5,000,000 on crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
Since its inception under the Mymanu brand, the device has gained popularity in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Manu finally admonishes other aspiring technopreneurs to “focus on your successes and believe in yourself.” He went on: “if you surround yourself with your accomplishments and don’t stop believing in your dreams, you’ll have a real chance.”
